PharmaGo, a South African startup, has launched a mobile app that allows those in need to receive free same-day and next-day deliveries of vital and over-the-counter medications at the click of a button.
PharmaGo, a free app available on Google Play for Android and the Apple App Store for iOS, can help deliver medication in as little as an hour, depending on the distance between the consumer and the nearest participating pharmacy.
The platform passes on uploads of clients’ prescriptions to a Pharmacy Panel, which is only accessible to the pharmacist who is filling the prescription. This process ensures information security as well as confidentiality. Credit or debit cards are accepted, as well as direct medical aid submission.
PharmaGo’s inaugural collaboration, which began as an aggregator rather than a medical provider, leverages a countrywide network of 73 pharmacies, with unique fee-free delivery available within a 20-50 kilometer radius, depending on the area. Deliveries to sites outside of the network’s coverage can be made in as little as a day thanks to a countrywide facility.
“We’ve already seen the power – and necessity – of PharmaGo in our initial launch phase,” said founder Raees Carim.
“We’ve received urgent orders and have been able to facilitate delivery within the same day. It’s gratifying to be able to help people access medication when they need it, in a convenient and secure way – while also being able to deliver daily essentials to customers without them needing to leave the house”.
Carim wants to extend its network of supplying pharmacies so that it may better serve more people across the country.
“We’re looking to expand into deliveries of products beyond the pharmaceutical space, and so are going to be expanding into the health, wellness and beauty space,” he said.
