In celebration of Women’s Month, Huawei South Africa has established a digital skills training program for female entrepreneurs. The Women4Tech online courses, which will begin on August 16, are free to all participants.
“Women entrepreneurs and women-owned micro-businesses traditionally play a critical role in South African society and by extension the economy,” Media & Communications Manager, Vanashree Govender, said in a statement.
“Our Women4Tech programme is designed to support these businesses through ICT knowledge sharing, facilitating digital transformation and business growth.”
The program will be broken down into three courses that will cover various business technologies.
Cloud computing and how it impacts SMMEs, digital marketing, and an introduction to app development are all covered. Musa Kalenga, a well-known entrepreneur and author, will deliver the digital marketing course.
The final course will involve a networking opportunity with Huawei mobile app ecosystem developers as well as other women entrepreneurs.
A free six-month Huawei Cloud subscription will be given to each program participant.
“Cloud is where the world is moving to, but the challenge for micro-enterprises is that costs for adoption and capability are often lacking,” President of Huawei Cloud Southern Africa Stone He said.
The following are the dates and times for the Huawei Women4Tech training courses:
- Introduction to Cloud Computing: 16-18 August, 10:00-12:00
- Digital Marketing: 24 August, 09:00-15:00
- Introduction to Mobile App Development & Networking Session: 25 August, 10:00-14:00
This application form is required for women entrepreneurs who want to apply for the program.
Participants will be selected by Huawei South Africa based on a number of factors, including their willingness to adopt new technology in their businesses. Upon their selection, the company will contact applicants and provide them with additional information.
