Sony is expanding its new soundbar offer to Dolby Atmos. Therefore, the new HT-a5000 is a complete and connected top-of-the-line product. For this reason, it will be a little below the HT-A7000 announced in July.

The revolution was started by its elder sibling(HT-A7000), and currently, the HT-a5000 is a soundbar with almost all modern improvements. It is suitable for both home, cinema and music use. It is advertised as 5.1.2 and handles horizontal and vertical channels. The design is complete continuity of the HT-A7000, quite discreet and a little sad. For dimensions and weight, it is 1210x140x67 mm (l x w x H) for 6.1 kg.

Sony integrated S-Force PRO Front surround technology to create an expansive sound according to the brand to make a horizontal plane sound. However, it’s Supplied by a Vertical winding motor. Sony integrates an automatic correction system (via microphone)to optimize the sound field to fit the room.

Sony HT-A5000 includes HDMI input, HDMI e-ARC socket, optical input, and s-Center out socket for some Bravia TVs. Its function does not stop those of a simple TV soundbar. It also integrates connectivity (Wi-Fi chip) and Bluetooth chip (Ldac codec support).

Therefore, this model is compatible with the AirPlay2, Spotify Connect, and Chromecast protocols, compatible with Google Assistant and Alexa voice assistant. Sony explores the 3D possibilities here. It is a model that provides compatibility with reality 360 audio systems available (on certain tracks) from Deezer, Amazon Music, or Tidal services.

With the best integration of this new range of cattle home cinema, the HT-A5000 can work with the SA-RS3S rear speakers, presenting the HT-A7000 sound simultaneously. You can connect the model directly (wirelessly) with the SA-SW5 or SA-SW3 subwoofer, announced in July. Finally, the sound Center synchronization technology and modern Bravia TVs allow you to use the sound built into the TV as an additional center channel for conversation.

A specialty on which Sony relies is sound construction: one of the characteristics of X balanced transducers is the optimization of the speakers compared to their surface and traditional speakers. As is the norm, the shape is usually not necessarily square but a little longer if necessary.

This technique is beneficial for “subwoofer” constructions with two long speakers, all based on the load reflex. Three X-balanced broadband speakers are positioned in front, allowing most signals to be transmitted forward and sideways. This transducer is coupled with two beam tweeters (on each side), which provide much of the”surround” coating. Finally, the two speakers (facing upwards)transmit the Atmos dimensions of the HT-a5000. The Sony HT-A5000 soundbar will be available from January 2022 at a price of  KSH at least 117,142 or instead 900 euros.
