Apple released iOS 15 to the general public last month, and the company has since released a follow-up update that addresses initial bugs. Given the number of features it adds, iOS 15 is a significant update. Furthermore, iOS 15 is available on a wide range of iPhone models, including the iPhone 6s. If you’re a fan of social media apps like Instagram, Snapchat, and others, you’ll be excited to learn about iOS 15’s new Portrait Mode feature for videos and photos.
How to Use a Background Blur in Instagram, Snapchat, and Other Social Media Using Portrait Mode in iOS 15
Apple is now allowing users to apply a blur effect to photos and videos taken with third-party apps such as Instagram and Snapchat. For photos and videos, the new Portrait Mode feature in iOS 15 blurs the background in the frame while keeping you in focus. If you’re not familiar, here’s how to use the Portrait Mode feature for photos and videos on your iPhone running iOS 15.
- The first thing you should do is open Instagram or Snapchat.
- Go to the section where you’ll be recording your story.
- Bring it down to Control Center now.
- On the top left corner of the screen, select Video Effects.
- To enable the option, tap on Portrait.
This is all you need to do to use iOS 15’s Portrait Mode on Instagram, Instagram, and other social media apps for videos and photos. According to our testing, the feature is only available on iPhone models with Face ID. This is due to the TrueDepth sensors recognizing the person and blurring the background accordingly. Furthermore, the method for applying a blur effect to the background is nearly identical across all apps, so give it a shot. Before iOS 15, users did not have the option to blur backgrounds through the system. Nonetheless, it is a pretty nifty feature to have and works like a charm.
