TikTok Effects That Will Take Your Videos to Greater Heights

The use of TikTok’s built-in effects is one of the things that makes TikTok videos so appealing. If you want to build a large following on this platform and create viral videos, it’s time to learn about the app’s most common and coolest effects.

It is critical to distinguish between Effects and Filters. Filters are similar to those available on Instagram. They allow you to change the color of the video, play with the lighting, and adjust the depth, to name a few options. You can add those before or after filming the video.

In TikTok, there are two types of effects: those that can be added before recording and those that can be added afterward. The former is usually more entertaining and creative, as they can add objects to the frame, change your background, or even your face in real-time. The latter is more editing-related, and it includes transitions, slow motion, and zoom effects.

How Do You Make Use of TikTok Effects?

Tap the + sign at the bottom of the home screen, then the Effects icon at the bottom left, to add effects before recording. There will be several effect sections, such as New, Trending, and Funny. When you tap on an effect, it will be applied in real-time on the recording screen. Some effects will also provide instructions on how to use them.

To use the editing effects, finish recording your video, click the checkmark icon in the lower right corner, and then click Effects at the bottom of the editing screen. You’ll be presented with a slew of effects options to use when editing your video.

Do a general Discover search if you know the name of an effect but can’t find it in the Effects menu. Then select any video that employs the desired effect. The effect will be “linked” in the video; tap it and then select Try This Effect.

After recording, you can do a variety of things, such as add closed captions to your TikTok videos or record a voiceover. For the time being, however, we’ll concentrate on visual effects, how to use them, and how they contribute to your videos.

  • Clone Trio

Are you a dancer who wants to show off your skills? Or maybe you just enjoy competing in TikTok dance challenges. In any case, this effect could be beneficial to you.

It creates two clones behind you that do exactly what you do. This creates the illusion that you’re dancing in a group, and it’s a pretty convincing one.

Look for the pink icon with three images on it to use it. Tap it, then add the music of your choice and perform your dance.

  •  Green Screen

As it is usually trending, this will be the first effect you see when you open the Effects menu (for good reason). It allows you to change your background image or even add a video as your background.

TikTok users frequently use it to make reaction videos. For example, if they want to respond to a Twitter feed, they will take a screenshot and place it in the background. Alternatively, if they want to discuss something that happened in another video, they upload that video with this green screen. When singing, you can also layer yourself to harmonize with yourself.

You can try with a variety of green screen effects. There’s a whole section in the Effects menu devoted to Green Screen.

  • Beauty Effects

There has been much discussion about how social media alters our perception of ourselves and creates impossible beauty standards. Beauty effects play an important role in this, so use them with caution. Some of these effects completely change your face and turn you into a different person.

They can, however, be useful if you don’t want to put on a full face of makeup just to film one video. They can also assist you in creating multiple characters for a single video. All of the different options can be found in the Effects menu under the Appearance tab.

  •  Split Screen

If you want to form a “dance crew,” you can use the Split Screen effect, which is similar to the Clone Trio effect. You can divide the screen into two, three, or even nine sections to create your dance video. You can also use this effect to give your video a more cinematic feel, similar to a movie montage.

The icon appears to be a series of duplicated images of an airplane. When you tap it, you’ll be able to select how many screens you want to create. You can also use it after shooting your video in the editing effects; it’s located in the Split tab.

  • Slow Zoom

TikTok has the perfect effect if you want to feel like you’re the main character in your story. Slow Zoom brings the camera closer and closer to your face without requiring you to do anything. It gives the impression that a director is focusing in on your reaction.

Look for an icon with a face and four arrows pointing towards it to find this effect. After tapping it, you can choose whether you want the zoom to last 10 seconds, 15 seconds, or 30 seconds. Then, to make the video more interesting, you can add an intro or outro.

If you’re looking for other types of zoom effects, take a look at the editing effects you use after you’ve recorded your video.

Because TikTok allows you to create videos ranging in length from 15 seconds to three minutes, you don’t have to limit yourself to a single effect; you can start and stop the recording several times, selecting a different effect for each section.

There’s a lot more to discover than what we’ve highlighted here, but these are some of the most popular effects on the app right now. Why not give them a shot? You may go viral as a result of that anyway!
