At around 14:30 hrs Kenyan Time, the Chinese manufacturer announced its Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro series of smartphones in Beijing, China. This was the most anticipated announcement for any Xiaomi fan as they wait to have the respective smartphones in their pockets come 2022.
Xiaomi 12
For this model, its screen size is dramatically reduced. The Xiaomi 12 has an AMOLED screen with a Full HD resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels plus a diagonal size of 6,28 inches. The model is also lighter as it takes 180 grams; thus, the Xiaomi 12 should be easier to grip. Xiaomi also touts stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos compatibility, Dolby Vision, and Gorilla Glass Victus scratch and fall protection.
On the performance front, there’s no surprise: we already knew the Xiaomi 12 would be powered by Qualcomm’s newest CPU, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. For the Camera department, the smartphone has a triple sensor with the following characteristics:
- Primary sensor: 50 megapixels
- Ultra wide-angle: 13-megapixel camera
- Telemacro sensor : 5 megapixels
- Selfie Camera: 32-megapixel
The battery has a 4500 mAh capacity, which is perfect for the model considering that the smartphone system is more optimized owing to MIUI 13 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. According to the manufacturer, there are three charging options: a 67-watt conventional charger, a 50-watt wireless charger, and a 10-watt reverse charge. The smartphone would be as follows:

Xiaomi 12 Pro
The main difference between Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro is that the latter comes with increased screen size, diagonal, and weight. For the Xiaomi 12 pro, we get a better look at the Chinese manufacturer. The model benefits from a 6.73-inch AMOLED screen with its size of 163.6mm x 74.6mm x 8.16mm. Compared with the Xiaomi 12, the pro version adds in extra weight at 205 gram
For the camera department, the Xiaomi 12 has a Sony IMX766 sensor instead of the Xiaomi 12 Pro’s IMX707 sensor, which is broader. Generally, the Xiaomi 12 Pro has the following characteristics for its camera sensors:
- Primary sensor: 50 Megapixels
- telephoto lens: 50 Megapixels
- Ultra wide-angle lens:50 Megapixels
- Selfie camera : 32 megapixels
The smartphone uses a 4600 mAh battery instead of the 4500 mAh battery seen on the standard version Xiaomi 12 pro also has a 120 Hz adaptive refresh rate, 50 W wireless charge, 10 W reverse charge. We also note Wi-Fi compatibility 6, MIUI 13 integrated integration, and Harman Kardon stereo speakers. The Prices would be as follows:
