Last month Lamborghini announced they have only two cars left to unveil that do not have some form of electrification, a new variant of the Urus and a new Huracan. This week, the automaker fulfilled one of those promises, meet the new Huracan Tecnica.
The Huracan Tecnica is based on the track focused Huracan STO. However, the Tecnica goes for a rear wheel drive system instead of the track car’s all wheel drive. Despite this change, the Tecnica does not skimp on power, meaning, it keeps the same 5.2-liter V-10 of the STO which produces the full 630 hp and 417 lb-ft of torque bundled with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.
Huracan goes further to reduce the weight of the car, which might be the reason they ditched the all wheel drive, they also switched some elements with lighter carbon-fiber replacements, such as the new front hood. The result is a dry weight of 3,040 pounds (1380kgs), according to Lamborghini.
To further enhance performance, the Huracan Tecnica is equipped with all-wheel steering, new brake cooling channels, and a new exhaust system that helps improve the flow and also to tailor the sound the car makes.
For better aerodynamics, the Tecnica has a fixed rear wing which helps deliver a 35% increase in downforce over the rear axle compared to the regular Huracan. In addition overall drag was reduced by about 20%.
All these tweaks work together to give an acceleration of 0-62 mph (100 kmph) time of 3.2 seconds, and a top speed of 202 mph (325kmph).
Inside the cabin, there are height-adjustable sport seats, a redesigned digital gauge cluster and central touchscreen with simpler graphics. Tech features like Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa and Android Auto are all supported. The Technica also has a telemetry system that connects to a smartphone app. Lamborghini says the Tecnica will have over 200 paint colors available through the Ad Personam program, including shades for the new interior.
Pricing and availability have not been revealed yet, however it should slot between the lower tier $214,366 Evo RWD and the higher spec $330,000 STO
