Tata Motors the Indian automaker who is also the parent company of Jaguar Land Rover unveiled a concept car to preview their future electric direction. The concept is named ‘Avinya‘ it’s derived from the Sanskrit language and stands for “innovation,” an appropriate name considering its design.

Avinya shape is a marriage between a minivan and a crossover. It does away with the B-pillars in favor of suicide doors. At the front and back, it has slim headlights which illustrate the ‘T’ Tata logo and the rear is more interesting, the taillights are made to look as if they are “floating” .

It has huge wheels which further enhance its look. Conventional side mirrors are missing too, it adopts cameras in their place despite not being legal in all countries such as the US.

The cabin is spacious and the front seats swivel to face the rear ones. The leg room is huge too thanks to wheels that are pushed to either extremes of the car.

In line with the innovation theme, Tata does away with the center infotainment display and in turn has a screen affixed to the steering wheel.

Powertrain details were not revealed, though Tata Motors notes that the unspecified battery has enough juice for at least 310 miles (500 kilometers) of range after charging for less than 30 minutes.

The Avinya Concept is planned to have a production model by 2025 and will be based on Tata’s new GEN 3 architecture intended for purpose built EVs.
