Mercedes Benz have released a teaser today showing the upcoming generation of the GLC-Class compact SUV. The company released a photo showing the rear-end of the car.

Since the GLC-Class will ride on the same MRA II platform as the new C-Class, its no coincidence that the two share a lot. Starting with the C Class powertrain, it is expected that the GLC will ride on a base engine with a 48-volt mild hybrid, relying on a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 and an integrated starter/generator to produce a net 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque coupled with a 9 speed automatic transmission. There will also be plug-in hybrid variants which are expected to offer more than 62 miles (100 kilometers) of all-electric range and reach speeds up to 148 miles per hour (238 kilometers per hour) with just the electric motor. Regardless of which powertrain setup you choose, 4Matic all-wheel-drive system will be standard across the entire GLC lineup.

The new GLC platform will see the upcoming model grow in size with larger trunk space, more head and legroom. Owners will have the option to add rear-wheel steering to maneuver now larger SUV.

Just like the new C-Class, the GLC will come standard with a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 11.9-inch portrait infotainment touchscreen.

Mercedes will reveal the new GLC-Class online on June 1. A little later, the company will reveal the high-output AMG versions.
