Meta’s new headset the Quest Pro VR|MR has been launched and is powered by Qualcomm’s newest Chipset, the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 1. Qualcomm revealed that a new image processing pipeline on the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 1 chip, manages less than 10ms of latency, enabling full-color video passthrough for mixed reality (MR).

Additionally, it enables high pixel density, concurrent perception technologies which are head, hand, and controller tracking, 3D reconstruction, and 8K 60fps 360-degree video. In comparison to the previous generation, the chip has a 30% better thermal performance and 50% greater sustained power.

The Snapdragon 662 platform, which powers the Meta Quest Touch Pro controllers, enables them to track through numerous embedded positional cameras and provides the headset with ultra-low latency.

According to Qualcomm, numerous OEMs have committed to releasing products using the XR2+ by the end of the year. More than 60 XR (eXtended Reality) devices are currently powered by Snapdragon XR CPUs around the world.
