Nairobi Design Week has announced its open Call for the 9th edition of the 2024 festival under the theme ‘We Got This’
Under the theme, ‘We Got This,’ NDW 2024 is looking to bring together a rich tapestry of vibrant design experiences that exemplify the exceptional talents and innovative spirit of the African creative industry.
Since its inception in 2015, the festival has consistently welcomed thousands of visitors each year, establishing itself as a hub for design exploration and innovation.
The 2023 edition witnessed remarkable success, with over 400 participating vendors and exhibitors, over 3000 attendees, and an online reach of more than 100,000.
As Nairobi gains prominence as the only African City with an annual Design Week globally, Nairobi Design Week is poised to continue its tradition of presenting exceptional and unconventional design experiences that capture the essence of creativity and community.
“While we focus on promoting Kenyan creatives, we encourage submissions from Africa and all over the world, our pillars – Play, Grow, and Make – form the foundation of Nairobi Design Week” says Naitiemu Nyanjom, festival Lead.
Play entails interactive and sensory experiences that rekindle participants’ inner child, offering a reprieve from the rigors of adulthood. Grow features expert-led workshops, where knowledge-sharing and engagement will empower attendees. In the spirit of ‘We Got This,’ the Make pillar aims to celebrate inclusivity by inviting artisans and creatives to exhibit their works, fostering organic participation in the creative process.
Naitiemu further emphasizes how the festival connects opportunities to the creative community as they are able to showcase their designs, cultures, art, and technology.
“We invite designers, artists, creators, and innovators to participate and contribute their exceptional and unconventional experiences to next year’s festival” she concludes
The event is set to take place from March 9th to 17th, 2024, at Opportunity Factory, Karen.
