Samsung launches Gauss, a Chat GPT rival generative AI

Samsung is joining the AI field with Gauss, a new generative AI model that the company has announced at its AI Forum 2023.

Gauss is named in honor of Carl Friedrich Gauss, the mathematician who established the normal distribution theory called the Gaussian Theory, it is thought as the backbone to AI.

The AI will have three tools: Samsung Gauss Language, Samsung Gauss Code and Samsung Gauss Image.

Samsung Gauss Language is made to understand human language and answer questions like ChatGPT, on your device it will enable several features such as help you write and edit emails, summarize documents, and translate languages. On top of that, it will enable smarter device control just like Amazon Alexa.

Samsung Gauss Code, as the name suggests, will focus more on coding, by helping developers write code quickly. It will use coding assistant code.i and enable developers code and test their work easier.

Samsung Gauss Image is a generative image model that can create and edit images. Samsung claims it can even convert low-res images to high-res pictures.

Gauss is scheduled to launch in the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S24 series in early 2024,however, the company is already using the AI among it’s employees to improve it further.
