Samsung has announced the debut of its Galaxy A55 smartphone alongside the Galaxy A35 adding to its midrange A-series lineup. The phone features a metal aluminium frame including Samsung’s Knox vault a security feature that is designed to protect the phones sensitive data such as the lock screen and encryption keys. The first for its A series line-up.
The Galaxy A55 also encompasses a bigger FHD+AMOLED display and upgraded camera capabilities. It also supports HDR video recording and improved nightime photos and comes with an Exynos 1480 SoC. The Galaxy A35 which is a cheaper option to the A55, comes with a Exynos 1380 SoC, bigger display and 5000 mAh battery life.
Besides the security feature upgrade, the A55 comes packed with an upgraded build quality and a metal frame compared to the A54 which has aplastic frame. The A55 will ship with a bigger 6.6inch FHD and Amoled Panel. A source from Android police says it packs a peak brightness of 1,000 nits and also comes a gorilla glass Victus for added protection.
Samsung has powered the phone with 12GB RAM for better performance. It also comes in four distinct colours that include Lilac, Ice Blue, Green and Navy while the A35 comes in Ice Blue, Lilac. Lime and Navy. Lastly, it runs on Android 14 based on UI 6.1. The A55 comes with a 12MP ultrawide and 32MP selfie camera and a 8MP ultra wide and 13 MP selfie camera for the A35 and 50MP main camera for both.
The two models will be retail at €479 for the A55 with 8GB RAM and 128 GB of storage and €529 for the 12GB RAM and 256 GB of Storage. While the A35 will retail at €379 for the 6GB/128GB option and €398 for the 8GB/128GB option and lastly €389 for the 8GB/256GB option.
