Paystack recently witnessed the departure of four experienced ex-managers, Yinka Adewuyi, Gbadegbo Gbade-Oyelakin, Abdulrahman Jogbojogbo, and Abiola Showemimo, who are embarking on a new venture in the grocery delivery sector called GoLemon.
These individuals, who collectively contributed a minimum of six years at Paystack, aim to leverage their expertise in their latest entrepreneurial pursuit.
GoLemon enters the competitive landscape of home and business grocery and household items delivery, an arena recently vacated by international leaders Jumia and Bolt due to economic challenges and stiff competition.
At the helm of GoLemon, Mr Adewui assumes the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO), while Mr Gbade-Oyelakin steps in as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
Mr Jogbojogbo will spearhead the startup’s expansion efforts, with Mr Showemimo overseeing operations. Despite facing competition from established players like Glovo, the techpreneurs remain optimistic about GoLemon’s prospects.
Drawing on their respective backgrounds, the team is confident in their ability to build a resilient business. Mr Showemimo’s experience as a Lagos supermarket owner and Mr Gbade-Oyelakin’s prior role as head of engineering at Supermart, an online supermarket, will be invaluable assets in GoLemon’s development.
GoLemon adopts a business model centered on managing inventory and fulfillment centers, sourcing bulk products directly from farmers and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) manufacturers to offer competitive prices and attract a broad customer base.
The startup is strategically positioned to cater to clients placing repeat large-scale orders, aligning with a broader trend of increasing interest in foodtech startups, as evidenced by the recent launch of Mira by a former Flutterwave vice-president.
