Kenyan DStv and GOtv subscribers will be paying more for their entertainment starting April 1, 2024.
MultiChoice Kenya, the company behind the popular satellite services, announced price increases for all DStv packages and most GOtv tiers.
The most significant rise is for the premium package, which goes from Sh9,900 to Sh10,500 per month. Other notable increases include:
- Compact Plus: Sh6,200 to Sh6,500
- Compact: Sh3,500 to Sh3,700
- Family: Sh1,850 to Sh2,000
- Lite: Sh650 to Sh700
GOtv also saw price adjustments, with increases for Lite, Value, Max, Supa and Supa Plus packages. DStv Access, the most basic package, remains unchanged atSh 1,300.
In a statement, MultiChoice Kenya attributed the price hike to the “economic outlook,” claiming they kept the increases “as low as possible.”
This is the second price increase for DStv and GOtv in less than a year, raising concerns about affordability for Kenyan subscribers, especially with limited alternatives for live sports streaming.
