Zuri,a platform that distributes beauty products such as hair extensions, beauty products, and cosmetics has received its initial institutional tech investment from Launch Africa Ventures.

Founded in 2016, Zuri offers a wide range of culturally relevant beauty products distributed through a hybrid model of physical salons which are owned or managed by franchisees, e-commerce, and social channels. The company has developed a proprietary software platform to deliver personalized experiences through the e-commerce app and physical stores. The company is currently present in Rwanda, Uganda, and the DRC.

Zuri’s CEO, Gisela Van Houcke, said that the company’s goal is to redefine beauty standards and provide a space for women to embrace their unique beauty.

The capital from Launch Africa Ventures will enable Zuri to extend its reach across Africa and Europe, solidify its market leadership, and continue its mission to empower women globally.

With over 20,000 devoted customers, 60 passionate employees, and more than 500,000 engaged social media followers, Zuri is slated to revolutionize the beauty industry by promoting diversity and empowering women. The company’s goal is to make beauty experiences more accessible to women everywhere.

With a seasoned industry veteran at the helm, Zuri demonstrates strong potential for growth, showcasing a proven product-market fit and capital-efficient operations.

This investment not only taps into the vast African beauty market but also provides diversification within its portfolio, bolstering its position in high-potential sectors while mitigating risk.

The investment also follows a period of notable growth for Zuri, driven by the company’s vision and leadership and aims to empower black women entrepreneurs and customers.
