The Connected Africa Summit 2024 concluded on a high note, celebrating groundbreaking advancements and innovation across multiple sectors.

The event, held to promote technological integration and connectivity across Africa, honored outstanding contributions in eight distinct categories: EdTech, Smart Cities and Mobilities, Agritech, Fintech, Trade & Logistics, Green Technology, Health Tech, and Creatives.

In the category of Smart Cities and Mobilities, the electric bike-sharing service Ebikes Africa rode to victory, showcasing their commitment to sustainable urban transportation. Close behind was THINK, recognized as the first runners-up for their innovative solutions in urban mobility.

EdTech witnessed fierce competition, with Mzizi emerging as the winner for their groundbreaking educational technology initiatives. Afri-stem claimed the first runners-up position, highlighting their dedication to STEM education in Africa.

Agritech showcased the potential for technology to revolutionize farming practices, with Terralima whose mission is to increase the income of farmers by streamlining the agricultural supply chain by helping farmers access extension services, financial services and fair produce prices. Vunapay secured the first runners-up position, underscoring the importance of financial solutions in the agricultural sector- The startup’s mission is to empower smallholder farmers in Kenya by partnering with Agricultural Cooperative Societies to provide efficient and transparent produce management solutions that result in maximum payouts to farmers.

In the realm of Fintech, Snap Pay stood out as the winner, demonstrating their commitment to transforming financial services in Africa. Tusenti earned recognition as the first runners-up for their innovative fintech solutions.

Trade & Logistics saw Apexloads emerge victorious, highlighting their contributions to streamlining logistics operations across the East African Region-the firm connects cargo owners with transporters to enhance efficiency in freight-truck matching and payments. Ticket Safari secured the first runners-up position, showcasing their innovative approach to ticketing solutions.

Green Technologies celebrated Ecomobilus as the winner, acknowledging their efforts to promote sustainable energy solutions. ACL Dimensions were recognized as the first runners-up for their contributions to environmental sustainability through technology.

Health Tech witnessed Zuri Health clinching the top spot for their groundbreaking healthcare innovations. Signvrse is a Kenyan startup that offers a mobile application focused on accessibility and communication for the Deaf community.

In the Creatives category, Uamuzi shone bright as the winner, showcasing their creativity and innovation in the arts. MymindCapsule claimed the first runners-up position, highlighting their unique approach to creative expression.

Ebikes Africa emerged victorious in the startup pitching competition, taking home the grand prize of Sh500,000. Vunapay and Signvrs followed closely behind, securing Sh300,000 and Sh200,000 respectively.

The summit not only celebrated the winners but also emphasized the importance of collaboration and innovation in driving Africa’s technological evolution.

With these groundbreaking initiatives, Africa is poised to lead the way in leveraging technology for sustainable development and progress.
