Google Selects Startups for its 2024 Accelerator Africa Program

Google has selected 6 startups for the 2024 Google for Startups Accelerator Africa program addressing numerous challenges on the continent through their fintech, healthtech, and artificial intelligence solutions.

The selected startups will access to mentorship from Google’s extensive network, exclusive access to Google’s resources, equity-free support to help scale startups to make a significant impact.

Launched in 2018, the Google for Startups Accelerator Africa program has offered substantial support to over 106 startups from 17 African countries. These past participants have collectively raised $263 million in funding and created over 2,800 jobs across the continent.

This year, the program will give more emphasis to artificial intelligence and other advanced technologies to tackle financial inclusion, healthcare and education among others to foster sustainable development and innovation across Africa.

The innovators include:

  1. Aveade: A digital marketplace connecting buyers and sellers with a diverse product selection.
  2. Breaze Delivery: A delivery platform connecting businesses with drivers to facilitate fast and efficient deliveries.
  3. Mapha Logistics: A delivery firm equipping township, peri-urban, and rural merchants with digital tools to simplify their business processes.
  4. Swagshack: A streetwear marketplace linking emerging fashion brands with customers, streamlining order and delivery services.
  5. Vuleka: An e-commerce and fintech platform connecting informal township businesses to customers through both online and offline channels.
  6. Wisi-Oi: A video-driven fashion resale platform transforming the pre-owned clothing industry.

Around the world, underrepresented founders face a disproportionate lack of access to capital and support networks. Google chooses founders around the world and world and works with partners to foster a global startup community for everyone. The startups selected for the 2024 Google for Startups Accelerator Africa program are expected to drive job creation, skill development, and technological advancement.
