In Kenya, there are a number of music streaming services.

Among others, Spotify and Apple Music are the two most popular streaming services in Kenya. Boomplay has long provided its music streaming services in Kenya and other parts of Africa.

Today, however, the business is establishing itself further after partnering with Telkom Kenya. Customers of the third-largest provider in the state will be able to access music via the Boomplay app for KES 300. This costs almost as much as comparable streaming services like Spotify do for their premium tier.

Numbers

More than 75 million songs are available in the Boomplay repertoire. The bundle will cost KES 300, as stated. At KES 160, weekly payments are also possible. Additionally, one-day streaming is available for KES 50. Spotify costs KES 50 a week, however, the plan excludes access to high-resolution music.

The payments will be deducted from the customer’s airtime once they choose to participate. It would have been preferable if there had been another means of payment accessible, such T-Kash, which is Telkom’s exclusive mobile money service. Customers may use M-PESA to pay for music on Spotify, for example.
