Huawei has its eyes in the future, now it is working on manufacturing phones that will be able to run on both Android and Windows; a dual OS.
So far the company has more Android phones than Windows Phones and has indicated in the past that their market share doesn’t warrant significant effort yet.
“We are still committed to making Windows Phone devices,” Shao Yang, Huawei’s Chief Marketing Officer told TrustedReviews, but added “We think the dual OS can be a new choice for the consumer. It will be on sale in the US in Q2.”
A dual-OS smartphone might enable more BYOD usage where a person prefers Android for personal use, but has to have Windows Phone OS for work purposes.
“If it is Windows only, maybe people will not find it as easy a decision to buy the phone. If they have the Android and Windows together, you can change it as you wish and it is much easier for people to choose Windows Phone,” added Yang.
