itel is a mobile manufacturing brand that have successfully gained grounds since its launch in 2005; particularly in the African smartphone market. The company has a rich product chest that contains high quality smartphones which includes the itel1516, itel 1556, itel Snap S31, the itel 1556 Plus with large 5,000mAh battery, the 5.5 inch itel A51 and many others with equally unique and fantastic specs.
However, of interest is the latest of itel’s product; the itel P51 smartphone. Let’s see the magic itel did with this device.
Itel P51 Specs Review
DESIGN
Looking at the itel P51 closely, one can easily depict what kind of device it is – a low-end smartphone. The device has a pretty basic and super simple design. The appearance of the P51 smartphone lacks the spark or excitement that makes a buyer go crazy over it on first sight.
At the back, the primary camera, Dual LED flash, the speaker grill and the itel logo are components that separates the itel P51 from a rectangular brick. The device however comes in four different colour variants; Black, Blue, Brown and Gold. Finally, some bit of design spark.
Up front is the proximity sensor, secondary camera, three soft navigation keys, and the display screen which will be discussed under the header below.
DISPLAY
A large 5.5 inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen handles visual output on the itel P51. The display is of High Definition (HD) quality and has a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. This screen is big enough and suitable for movies, reading books and web pages on the internet.
Sadly, if you are a somewhat careless smartphone user or you don’t want your screen easily damaged or shattered, you may want to purchase an external screen protector as the itel P51 smartphone lacks the Corning Gorilla Glass protection or any other protection whatsoever.
PROCESSOR, OS & STORAGE
The Quad-core MediaTek 1.3GHz processor and 1GB RAM combo don’t quite cut it but should do well enough to handle basic smartphone functions like surfing the internet, smooth multitasking, and handle some light games. Running some heavy games on this device may cause the itel P51 to lag or heat up.
The P51 smartphone a decent 16GB of internal memory (ROM) that can be increased to the region of 32GB using an external SD card. Multitasking is really easy because the device runs on the latest Android v7.0 Nougat OS and you get to enjoy the Split-screen feature (one of the many benefits of the Android Nougat OS).
CAMERA
The primary camera located at the back of the device is an 8 megapixels sensor. The dual LED flash is positioned to ensure clear and crisp image production.
On the frontal, a mediocre 2 megapixels lens and lacks LED flash. Images produced by this lens may not satisfy your Instagram, SnapChat, Facebook or selfie needs in general.
BATTERY
The first major highlight of this device is the battery capacity. The itel P51 boasts of a 5,000mAh Li – ion battery that can last up to 72 hours (3 days) on full 100% charge.
Sadly, the device lacks the expected “Quick charge” capability. I can’t help but winder how long it would take this device charge from 0% to a 100%.
