Developers from across the world have officially been invited to take part in the first ever Google Cloud Developer Challenge for a chance to win up to $20,000 by building locally relevant web applications that solve real world problems.
This competition will give a chance to the developers to create innovative solutions built on the Google App Engine using Google API’s like Google+, Youtube and Maps API’s.
Applicants are invited to create an application in one of the following categories:
- Enterprise/Small Business Solutions , Education, Not for Profit
- Social / Personal Productivity/Games / Fun
A winner will be selected for each category per region, with each standing a chance to win a prize of $20,000.
“We are devoted to raising the next generation of information technology experts as well as encouraging diversity among software developers,” Google said in a blog post, “In line with this, we have special prizes for all-female teams — $2,000 and $1,000 dollars for ‘all-student teams’ that make the second round.”
The first round of submissions starts on October 22, 2013 and close in November 21, 2013. The Semi-Finalists will be announced on December 5th, before updated Semi-Final Apps are submitted in January 5th and consequently the announcement of the winners come January 28, 2014.
