Samsung has made it public that the Galaxy Gear will now be compatible with 8 more Samsung galaxy devices, before the Gear was only compatible with the Note 3.
The electronic company said that the compatibility has been increased to the Galaxy S4,, S III, and Note II via an Android 4.3.
The Gear will also be work with the Galaxy S4 mini, S4 Active, Mega 5.8, Mega 6.3, and S4 zoom but it will be through a different software update beginning by the end of this month.
“Extending Galaxy Gear compatibility to more Galaxy devices reflects our deep commitment to continuing to deliver enriched mobile experiences to our consumers,” said JK Shin, CEO and President of IT & Mobile division, Samsung Electronics.“Through a significant effort to enhance and enrich the Galaxy experience, Samsung continues to empower our users in their mobile lives and enable smart freedom with Galaxy Gear.”
Galaxy Gear will enable Galaxy S4, S III, and Note II users to make and answer calls and view incoming messages and notifications through the watch display instead of the smartphone screen.
Good move, but Samsung should borrow a leaf from the Sony Smart Watch2, extend the compatibility to all smartphones with Android 4.0 and later. It would get more customers considering it has more features than the Sony Smart Watch
