MOBILE BANKING

Mobile banking in Kenya has proved to be a force to reckon with,  because at this rate no bank can afford not to have this application in their program. In light to this, the Equatorial Commercial Bank (EBC) has this morning launched its new mobile banking platform which they called ‘GoMobile’.

‘GoMobile’ is an innovative  mobile banking solution that allows EBC customers access the full range of banking services in their mobile phones. This  platform unlike other Mobile Banking platforms can be accessed via Smartphones, be it Android, blackberry, IOS or WAO. All one has to do is download the application from any other through the short code *286#.

The Principle Secretary, Ministry of Information, Communication and Technology, Joseph Tiampati Ole Musuni noted that mobile banking has changed the face of banking in Kenya as customers have gone mobile. He congratulated the bank for the step they had taken to offer mobile banking services.

Musuni said that GoMobile app will give ECB’s customers security, easy access and more control of their finances with the click of a few buttons. This platform, he said, will help the bank understand the way their customers make monetary transactions therefore which will help them come up with innovative ways to offer excellent customers care services.

With this account the customers can access services such as EBC inter account transfers, transfers to  other banks, Mpesa and Airtel money transfers, loans insurance requests, loan repayments, airtime topup, bankers cheque request (this is only usable to people with smartphones), bill payments (which includes KPLC Postpaid, Zuku, Nairobi water  and DSTV).
