Does the name Kanini Mutooni ring a bell in your mind, well; she has been admitted into the prestigious World Economic Forum’s 2014 Young Leaders Community. A community made up of bold, brave, action-oriented and entrepreneurial individuals who commit both their time and talent to make the world a better place.

Who is she you ask, she is a Kenyan based in Berlin. Professionally, Kanini is a chartered accountant. Her profession begun in the risk management department in KPMG, she then moved to Ernst &Young after which she did some banking at Merrill Lynch and Kleinwort Benson. It was during the time she was in Kleinwort Benson that she realized that entrepreneurship was calling out to her and she left the job to pursue her dreams, this was in 2010.

On leaving a very covetous job in Kleinwort Benson, she started myAzima; the company’s main purpose is to provide technology solutions for organizations or enterprises wishing to establish their own peer-to-peer (P2P) or micro-financing crowd funding platforms.

Things went well for her and in about a year she launched Inuka, a micro-finance platform dedicated to facilitating lending to female owned businesses in sub-sahara Africa. She went on to uplift women by being part of the founding team of Womeninbiz.de, an initiative started to bridge the networking and mentoring gap for women in Berling running their own businesses.

Nairobi’s Start-up Grind will continue to celebrate women entrepreneurs in support of the #40Forward initiative. On the Thursday of 29th May, Start-up Grind is inviting all of you at the Nairobi Startup Garage (home to 88mph) as they engage Kanini over an intimate fireside chat.

The young entrepreneur will share her experience and will offer priceless insights into the problems that need urgent solutions in the Finance Industry, especially in Africa. Her story will inspire and motivate you to build your own business, and not any business but a buisnes that will matter in the African community.

At Startup Grind our mission is to make your startup journey less lonely, more connected and memorable. Powered by Google for Entrepreneurs.
