USIU-Africa is set to launch a Master of Arts in Communication Studies with special attention to Digital Communication that will tackle Strategy, Online Corporate Branding, Effective Web Design & Strategy and Social Media Strategies; all crucial for the survival of any brand.
According to the Vice Chancellor USIU Africa Prof. Freida Brown, the university is on a mission to promote the discovery and application of knowledge, acquisition of skills and development of intellect in a manner that prepares organizations to contribute effectively and ethically as citizens of a changing and increasingly technological world.
USIU-Africa has also partnered with GlobeTrack International and are set to host a Digital Media Boot Camp on Thursday 24th and Friday 25th July 2014 at USIU Africa to inspire and empower the use of online media to gain more exposure, increase traffic, cultivate loyalty and grow businesses.
The Boot Camp will feature key address by Erik Qualman – a Forbes Top 50 Digital Power Influencer, world renowned author and social media expert and an MBA Professor at the Hult International Business School.
According to Globetrack International Managing Director Esther Kagiri, the forum would provide a perfect platform to clearly identify the return on investment where digital media is concerned while exploring opportunities aimed at improving targeted online communication.
“With the use of online media technology quickly on the rise, organizations including Governments are increasingly employing social media strategies in order to engage more effectively with their respective target audience. This has encouraged continuous interaction and engagement thereby growing transparency and providing platforms to provide immediate feedback to all stakeholders,” she said. Kagiri added that media has shifted beyond traditional communication channels to encompass Online Media and thet two will develop productive alliances and partnerships to advance capacity to develop innovative solutions for an ever changing business environment.
“We are keen on developing a virtuous cycle while continuously redeploying resources aimed at inventing new sources of strategic growth opportunities. Digital media is unmistakably part of this frontier and our first ever Boot Camp will present an unrivalled platform to not only share knowledge and intelligence but also define best practices that will enhance interactions with all stakeholders,” She Said.
The Digital Media Boot camp with Erik Qualman will aim at providing insights to local professionals on digital media best practices while engaging their stakeholders through the various online platforms key in growing businesses. With millions of people interacting with brands on social media, an organization’s reputation can be built or destroyed based on how best the interaction is managed.
According to Brown, the Boot Camp “Is an opportunity to help bridge gaps between academia and market needs; equipping the workforce with the necessary skills to spur economic growth.”
