animNigeria’s FansConnectOnline, the guys who developed the Afrinolly app, has launched Akaraka, a fantasy animated comic which tells a story of how courage, friendship, trust and believing in yourself and your friends can get you through the most difficult situations.

The comic aims to encourage people that no matter what others say or how hard you feel things are, with hard work and dedication you can rewrite your fate and control your destiny.

The graphic comic tells the story of Ahmadioha, the head god, who has declared war on demigods: the children borne of uncommon sexual affair between gods and humans. The demigods are unwanted by both humans and the gods, making their gifts a curse to them. But three demigods Somto, Ebuka and Awulika seek to change that fate. What caused the war? How will they escape? Are the gods right? Follow this tale of destiny, AKARAKA!!!

Akaraka follows the adventures of Somto, Ebuka & Anwulika as they discover their superhuman powers:

Somto, son of Ahmadioha (god of lightning and ruler of the heavens) and Nma-Anyashi (goddess of night) is begotten from a secret affair between the two gods and hidden on earth by his mother. Brainwashed to forget who he is, he is placed in the care of mortals (foster parents). Ebuka, son of Nne-Agu (god of animals) and a female earthling, has been brought up to fend for himself all his life.  Anwulika is a small-time seer, who steals the powers of time unaware that she is committing a crime…

It is a time of peace and tranquility, until Ahmadioha, scared of losing his position as leader of the gods, sought to see if there are any threats to his throne. He visits the Oracle of Time, who tells him that one of his children will take his throne from him. Scared and enraged, Ahmadioha tricks the other gods into agreeing to wage war on children of the gods. He fails to tell the other gods of his fear main aim.

In these new troubled times, Somto loses his foster parents to the god’s warriors and in an uncontrollable rage realizes he has the power to summon lightning. He is convinced by Nma-Anayshi, his mother, who he presumes to be his guardian, to seek advice from the Oracle of Time on how to go about his new quest. On his way to the Oracle, he meets Ebuka and Light.

saEbuka grew up in a village close to a very wild forest. Growing up between the village and the forest; he joined the warriors of the village where he got combat training. After certain events make him lose his guardian, he returns to the forest, where he is raised by the animals until the war, when the animals chased him out. His father advises him to seek Oracle of Time and find out how he can survive the war.

The Light is a mysterious entity, which seems to appear when least expected and who always orchestrates the missions the trio of Somto, Ebuka and Anwulika are expected to carry out. The Light also brings the three together to constitute the Akaraka team. After meeting Somto and Ebuka, The Light recruits their support in finding Anwulika, who now has the power of time but wanted by the gods.

Anwulika, on her part is not born of the gods; she is a puny seer of the future, who foresees the death of a god and how the two sons of Evil, Onwu and Njo will steal his powers. Believing she is fulfilling a duty to the gods, she arrives at the place of the event and steals the god of time’s powers. She later realizes that the gods are after her for her actions and she tries as much as possible to escape their wrath.

When Somto and Ebuka meet Anwulika, they save her from the sons of Evil and she also helps them escape when things start looking tough for the duo. Recognizing her benefits to their mission, the other two agree for her to join them and ask The Light to find an alternative means to gain the god’s favour.

Light sends them on different treasure hunts and missions to acquire powerful artefacts and weapons. When they appear to be on the verge of redemption, it becomes clear that someone has been pulling certain strings and manipulating events all along. To top it all, that strange someone is about to bring an end to the entire world.
