Restless Talent Management, the first global management company to focus on African talent, has signed Ghanaian-American actress Nana Mensah, star of the hit web series AN AFRICAN CITY.
A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Mensah decided to forgo a career in business to pursue the arts. She appeared in short films and theater plays before breaking out earlier this year as the vivacious and voluptuous Sade in AN AFRICAN CITY. Dubbed “the African SEX AND THE CITY”, the web series created by Nicole Armarteifio follows the love lives of five glamorous African women who have recently returned to Ghana after years spent abroad. The series has reached 1 million views on YouTube so far and received coverage from dozens of major news outlets including CNN, the BBC, and ELLE magazine.
“Along with the rest of the audience of AN AFRICAN CITY, we fell in love with Nana’s character Sade. Just like her, Nana is both sexy and funny, but she also happens to be a talented writer. We believe that she will go very far and we’re excited to be by her side to guide and support her in this next stage of her career”, said Restless’ Marie Lora-Mungai and Tendeka Matatu.
Next on Mensah’s agenda is a leading role in the feature film GLORY BOOKS (WORKING TITLE), which she also wrote. A charming dramedy with a cast of colorful characters, GLORY BOOKS is scheduled to start filming next month in New York. Mensah will then jet off to Accra to resume her eye-catching role in the second season of AN AFRICAN CITY.
