Rocket Internet’s online marketplace Kaymu.com.ng has expanded to Abuja even with less traction in Lagos. The firm says the move is aimed at satisfying the growing number of buyers and sellers on Kaymu’s platform.
The new office will serve as a base for the entire northern region by providing more efficient customer service and a point of contact for business owners situated in the surrounding area.
Evangeline Wiles, Managing Director of Kaymu Nigeria said, “We are very excited to expand our business to the federal capital territory, a major business hub in Nigeria. Online shopping is here to stay and we will continue to introduce new ways to reach out to a larger audience, achieved partly through expansion of our operations to major cities within the country”.
Abuja is one of the fastest growing cities in Nigeria and is largely populated by the middle class, making it a viable location for e-commerce to thrive. Unlike Kaymu, Jumia has had a huge traction in Nigeria.
