A new application available on the Safaricom store dubbed MyRCPT aims to help users generate PDF receipts from their Lipa Na Mpesa and Mpesa Paybill text messages and as well help them file all their payments, rent, utility bills among others for accountability.
Developed by a local startup Disruptive Technologies MyRCPT is building on the popularity of mobile payments in Kenya by both individuals, merchants and corporate firms as wel as learning institutions.
The mobile application is only available for android though the team says it’s developing the app for other platforms to help everyone have their Mpesa paybill and lipa na mpesa receipts and as well allow them to print or email the receipts for accountability.
The team says the receipts supplement the SMS receipt on users get from M-PESA so they can use them as proof of payment for rent, utility bills, matatu fare, bulk payments among others, currently in beta, the app costs Ksh 199 on the Safaricom Appstore.
Recently, Safaricom acquired M-Ledger to help users track their M-PESA financial details for free. and will be a Safaricom product than a standalone application. Safaricom’s move is anticipated to see more developers build locally relevant apps for its subscribers.
