Nigeria has its first Digital City, Calabar. The city acquired this status after completing the installation of the Metropolitan Dark Fibre Optic Network infrastructure in the city.
This means that the city currently experiences high speed and quality of telecoms data transmission. The installation of the Fibre Optic Network came through with the help of Cross Rivers who partnered with the government and MTN.
The mobile operator oversaw the laying of extensive infrastructure comprising 120km of 96 core fibre cables and open access ducts spanning the entire city of Calabar.
