The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Cooperatives, a strategic partner of the Nairobi Innovation Week (NIW) initiated the Nairobi Innovation Week. Startups (NIW.Startups) to enhance local startups.
NIW.Startups is a program that the Ministry working with stakeholders will seek to identify promising startups from all counties in Kenya, to strengthen and nurture them and facilitate their scaling.
The purpose of NIW.startups is to prepare home grown localized innovative and scalable startups to be investor ready and to either give them access to seed stage funding or growth phase financing options.
The overall objective of NIW 2017 of strengthening the innovation ecosystem, NIW.Startups seeks to create common platform through which various support institutions can systematically address the funding challenges of startups.
The program which is set to run for over a period of two and a half months and will be climaxed on 10th March 2017, the last day of the Nairobi Innovation Week.The Nairobi Innovation Week will take place at The University of Nairobi between the 6th and 10th of March 2017.
The program’s partners are University of Nairobi, Strathmore University, Demo Africa, Various Seed and Growth Capital Investors and Incubators and Hubs in Kenya.
