500 startups’ has revealed the list of startups accepted into its Batch 22 cohort, and in the list are three Nigerian-led startups.

The Nigerian startups represent the only black startups in the cohort.

They include Mail Haven, Mobile Forms, and Fyodor Biotechnologies.

MailHaven led by Kela Ivonye is a smart mailbox that tracks and protects your packages. The MailHaven app for iOS allows you to manage your online purchases and track your shipments – all in one place. No more cluttered inboxes, lost tracking codes, or missed deliveries. When used along with the MailHaven smart mailbox, you unlock the ultimate online shopping experience with automatic tracking, protection from the elements, and notifications the instant your package arrives.

Mobile Forms is a platform for local and international businesses to crowdsource reliable market data in Africa. It helps users create forms online and collect quality data using any mobile device. It also helps run Campaigns and get real time response from its global agent network.

Fyodor Biotechnologies, led by Dr. Eddy Agbo is a privately held medical device company whose mission is to develop and commercialize novel medical diagnostic tests that address unmet needs in Nigeria and emerging economies. In response to the large proportion of malaria that is managed at home and in all healthcare settings, Fyodor has developed the Urine Malaria TestTM(UMT) – the first ever non-blood (one-step, no blood, no reagents, no equipment, visually read) rapid test that tells in 25 minutes or less if a fever is due to malaria or not. It removes the complexity, pain and risks associated with a blood test.

The new cohort consists of 36 innovative startups from 14 countries.  42% of the companies are based outside of the United States, with founders representing Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy, Nigeria, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.
