The Alcatel Idol 5 is a perfectly sized budget smart phone that comes with a 5.2 inch High Definition screen for beautiful quality display and a 1.3 GHz processor from MediaTek.

Up front, the Alcatel Idol 5 has a special kind of screen protection – Asahi Dragontrail Glass with oleophobic coating to prevent easy breakage and shattering of the device screen. Alcatel did well with the Idol 5 storage by bringing 16 GB internal storage on board which is expandable to 256 GB using an external SD card.

The huge 3 GB RAM and Mali T720 will also come in handy when multitasking and gaming. Running on the Android v7.1 Nougat OS, you should enjoy the inherent split-screen feature of the OS. Other Specs include; Rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, 13 MP primary camera, 5 MP secondary camera, and 2,800 mAh non-removable battery.

The Alcatel A7 can be safely said to be the bigger, better and upgraded version of the Alcatel Idol 5.

The A7 comes with a bigger screen (5.5 inch), better primary camera (16 megapixels), better secondary camera (8 megapixels), bigger built-in storage (32 GB), faster processor speed (1.5 GHz) and bigger battery capacity (4,000 mAh) with fast charge.

The Alcatel Idol 5 has a cost price of $272 while the Alcatel A7, $284. The two smartphones were just only recently released and are only available in Europe. Global availability should take not more than a month or two.

In my opinion, these devices are too pricey to be named budget smart phones. Besides, I believe they have the specs of budget smart phones but the prices of a high-end devices.
