For aspiring Software Developers in Nigeria looking to acquire skills, Basecode Academy is here to provide just that.
Founded on July 15, 2017, by Jide Williams, Basecode Academy was launched with a mission to groom the next wave of software developers in Nigeria.
The startup applies a unique strategy to achieve their objective. After students apply for intended programs, they undergo Basecode’s bootcamp and are guided through the path to finally obtaining a job.
According to Jide Williams, their approach is made possible by their partnership with third parties like Findworka ( the startup in charge of the mentorship programme) and also employers (who have pledged support to take best students as interns). Through this, students gather practical experience in whatever tech career path they have chosen.
Asides breeding talents, the team seeks to make Nigerian developers more accessible.
In the words of the founder, “we want to identify, groom, and mentor talents into the tech ecosystem. We are very dedicated to grooming talents for the Nigerian tech ecosystem as it is very evident that the best developers are either too expensive or working with Andela or working remotely to earn forex.”
As a result of this, startups are incurring massive costs, and Basecode aims to bridge that gap.
On how they plan to deal with competitors, the founder further explains that their affordability and mentorship programme sets them apart.
