Search engine giant Google has introduced its two-wheeler mode in Kenya. This new functionality allows motorcycle riders to calculate journey times accurately, get directions for narrow shortcuts inaccessible to larger vehicles. The new feature will also alert riders of restricted roads.

The announcement said, “With Google Maps’ new motorbike mode users across Kenya will now be able to get directions and turn-by-turn navigation specifically tailored for motorbike riders, to suggest more efficient travel experience.”

Bodabadas are arguably the most popular forms of transportation in Kenya, with numbers having risen to 1 million bikes in 2018, from 100,000 in 2007.
