WhatsApp dark mode is finally here after months of anticipation. dark mode has been the most demanded feature among WhatsApp users.
Towards the end of 2019, dark mode was a trending social media craze and WhatsApp users have been feeling left out since. The rollout will be effective on WhatsApp for android and ios.
Dark mode for WhatsApp offers a fresh look at a familiar experience. It’s designed to reduce eye strain in low light environments. And we hope it helps prevent those awkward moments where your phone lights up the room.
Noting from the WhatsApp blog. While designing dark, the company spent time researching and experimenting with a focus on two particular areas:
“Readability: When choosing colours. We wanted to minimize eye fatigue and use colours that are closer to the system defaults on iPhone and Android respectively.”
“And secondly, Information Hierarchy: We wanted to help users easily focus their attention on each screen. We did this by using colour and other design elements. This was to make sure the most important information stands out” according to WhatsApp blog.
To add on, the dark mode might not be available right now noting that it has just been announced. It will be rolling out in the coming days on the latest version of WhatsApp.
Once made available, it will roll out automatically for users using the current updated WhatsApp. Users on the latest versions of iOS and Android do not have a manual toggle that can be flicked to switch on the theme on WhatsApp.
