11-year-old kid has designed a robot that creates farming solutions.

A Nigerian child emerged the winner of the Next Robotics Legend competition which ended last weekend. The agricultural sector in Nigeria has been struggling for some time now and Ifeoluwa Olusanya managed to create workable solutions. Some of the problems farmers have been facing is the inability to detect soil diseases and they lack equipment that can quickly analyze the nutrients and fertilizers needed for crops to grow.

When Ifeoluwa was announced as the winner this is what he had to say:

“It was a surreal feeling when I was announced as the winner of the program. The 6-week programme was very interesting and educative and I learnt a lot. I am excited because I will be able to build my own robots through the mentorship programme. Thank you, Union Bank and Awarri.”

The Next Robotics Legend competition was founded by Silas Adekunle who is also a top international robotics engineer who also created the first intelligent gaming robot. There were over 1,000 applicants however 25 were shortlisted to participate in an intensive 6-week training program. Each child received a robot that had all the information provided for them and seasoned tutors that would provide the quality education they needed.

The children were expected to create solutions to a problem in their community. Ifeoluwa was declared the winner after he created the best solution for his community. This initiative is part of Edu360’s efforts to integrate Robotics and Artificial Intelligence into the education of the Nigerian child, and better prepare them for the workplace for the future.
