Apple launched new data protection “nutrition labels” in the iPhone App Store. Using these labels, you can learn very quickly how well an app could really monitor you or even use your personal information. Here is a guide to follow:

  • Launch the apple store from your Home screen.
  • In the upper right corner of the screen, tap your profile image.
  • Click “Purchased” in your Profile, after which then choose “My Purchases.”
  • You’ll see a list of every app you’ve purchased or downloaded from your iPhone.
  • Scroll through the list and tap the icon of the one whose privacy policy you would like to check
  • You will be taken to the App Store page for that particular app after you tap the icon.
  • Scroll down the page until you see the “Privacy App” section.
  • You will see summaries of how the app tracks you or uses your data in sections like “Data used to track you” and “Data linked to you.”
  • To see some more details regarding privacy labels and what they cover, click “See Details” beside the “App Privacy” header.
  • On the App Privacy details page, you’ll get a detailed description of what the app stores and how they are used.
  • You also can search for an app in the App Store to view your privacy policy.
