Graduate Farmer, an online farming resource platform founded in 2015 is making it possible for young men and women to venture into agriculture, a sector that has been left to the older generation.

The online platform focuses on empowering the youth with information and financial tools to guide them from being job seekers to creators through agribusiness. Normally, starting an agribusiness venture is not that easy even with enough capital at hand. Graduate Farmer purposes to inspire, empower and provide working solutions for the youth .These are the young men and women who would want to start and grow profitable agribusiness ventures in Kenya. Investing tips are made known to these youths to enable them grow their agricultural businesses.

Thousands of students graduate annually with hopes of finding job opportunities. However this is not the case. Unemployment has become a global problem whereby many graduates pose their right papers and get turned down by employers. The modern economy needs appropriate skills which majority of these graduates lack. Some of these students have given up on job hunting.

Of the seven million unemployed Kenyans, 70% of them are graduates from different universities. In addition to this nine in every ten unemployed Kenyans are below 35 years. As much as President Uhuru’s government plan was to create jobs for the youth, much has not been done. Unemployment has led to increased crime rates as more graduates are coming into the market which has existing unemployed graduates. Kenyan graduates demand too much salary from potential employers .These graduates are to blame for their joblessness as they scare away these potential employers.

In order to solve this problem, graduates should be encouraged on entrepreneurship. They should not rely only on getting employed. Learning the skills to start, manage and operate their own business is what will create a more independent and driven generation of youths in Kenya.

The platform empowers its users with Agricultural Information ,Technical Farming  skills ,Practical Crop and Animal Management skills that will enable them propel from being  job seekers to job creators through agribusiness.

After graduating from Kabarak University, Joseph Bolt, the founder of Graduate farmer found it so hard to get a job and farming was his only backup. Having grown up on a farm and seeing what his parents had gained from farming. Joseph deiced to go full in into farming. He started Graduate Farmer to empower the youth in agribusiness and let them know that they can also generate good income from farming.

Graduate Farmer provides two important factors that can help the youth in their platform. Graduate Farmer Connect is a platform that links farmers to training and they can also get accessed .Agriculture Information Repository is a blog platform which acts as an information database point for farmers looking for information about farming.

The youth especially the graduates should no longer rely on getting employed as they can also engage in other income generating activities such as agribusiness. Graduate farmer provides training and all relevant information required to venture in farming.
