The Chinese manufacturer Realme is stepping up. With the Realme 8 and Realme 8 5G, two Android smartphones were presented in the lower middle class and wanted to chase away Xiaomi customers. Curiously, both smartphones cost 199 euros, approximately about 26,059KES. But there are significant differences in the equipment.
Realme 8 and 8 5G cost 199 euros each
At first, you wonder why the Relme 8 and Realme 8 (5G) each cost 199 euros. You would expect the 5G version to cost more and offer better features. But that’s not true. The Chinese manufacturer confuses its customers even more than Samsung and Xiaomi do. Depending on what is important to you, sometimes one or the other cell phone is better suited for you.
The Realme 8 5G has a 5G modem and a standard 90 Hz display. There is also a 48 MP camera and a 5,000 mAh battery with an 18-watt quick charge function. The Realme 8, on the other hand, is equipped with a Super AMOLED display, which can only handle 60 Hz, a 64 MP camera, and a 5,000 mAh battery, which, on the other hand, can be charged much faster with 30 watts. A bizarre mixture of smartphones that are sold under almost the same name.

Except for the confusing names and features, the Realme phones are actual announcements to Xiaomi. The Realme 8 with a Super AMOLED display and the high-resolution camera is an exciting option for 199 euros. The screen can be up to 1,000 units bright, according to the manufacturer. This is a real added value in such a cheap smartphone and thus plays in the high-end class. A disadvantage of cheap cell phones is that the screens are often much too dark. Let us hope that Both Realme phones will be available in Kenya Sooner.
Realme wants a piece of the pie.
Huawei is known to be well lubricated on the smartphone market. Xiaomi and Samsung particularly benefit from this, but Oppo and Vivo have also made it into the top 5 of the largest smartphone manufacturers. Realme now wants to take off and is already doing quite well with these two smartphones. It will be interesting to see how market shares develop.
