Google I/O 2021 conference: what to expect Today?

After an year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Google I/O is returning for a 2021 edition. The inaugural conference, which you can follow live on Techmoran this Tuesday, May 18, from 8 p.m., will be an opportunity for the company to present its latest news.

According to the official schedule unveiled by the Mountain View firm, Google Developers will likely load the program with a duration of two hours. We take stock of the various announcements that could take place during this event.

This will most likely be the big piece of this introductory conference. If Google has already unveiled three betas of Android 12 to developers, the company should go back at length on this significant new version.

The new design of the OS could be presented during the conference. For several weeks now, screenshots have had a refreshed interface, with different elements showing more rounded corners and a color that would fit the wallpaper. Google can also be expected to show improved multitasking, as well as new privacy settings and notifications.

What’s new for WearOS?

Google occasionally updates its operating system for smartwatches, but the changes are pretty small. However, there are big ambitions for the manufacturer in this area, especially since the acquisition of Fitbit in November 2019.

Google I/O 2021 could be an opportunity for the brand to introduce app developers to a significantly modified version of WearOS.

The company may be working on its smartwatch under the Pixel brand, but it seems unlikely to be presented or even mentioned at the conference.

Google Assistant should be enriched with new features.

Google itself stated on its developer blog: “New products and features” will be announced at Google I/O 2021. We do not have any more data at this stage as to whether Google or Nest will design these products or whether the search engine will highlight its various partners.
We just learned that an update, dubbed Guacamole, should allow you to converse more simply with the voice assistant for simple tasks like stopping a timer or taking a call without going through the keyword “Ok Google.”

We will have to wait until this Tuesday, May 18, at 8 p.m. Kenyan time, to learn more about this.

The rumor has been widely stale for several weeks: Google is working on a new version of its wireless headphones at a more affordable price than the 199 euros(25,976.95 Kenyan Shilling) requested for Bud Pixels Today. The manufacturer even mistakenly posted a visual of its following accessories in a tweet quickly deleted.

The Buds A Pixels would be similar to the Pixel Buds, but with a more sober and monochrome design. They would still benefit from touch controls to control their music and access Google Assistant.

It remains to be seen the release date and price of these Pixel Buds A, and Google could use its long speech to formalize its new true wireless headphones.

Google Whitechapel: the future of processors made by Google

A few weeks ago, we reported that the next Pixel 6 could carry a GS101 processor developed in-house by Google’s teams. Of course, it is almost certain that we will not hear about this phone during Google I/O, the consumer ads of the search engine being instead stalled for the beginning of October each year.

The conference could be the time for Google to unveil its plans to make its chips and present to developers the benefits of working on its new platform, called Google Whitechapel.
