It won’t be long before Samsung presents the third generation of foldable phones with the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3. However, the competition from China is close on Samsung’s heels. Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo could soon attack with their folding smartphones.
Galaxy Z Fold: This is what the competition from China is planning
In the field of foldable smartphones, Samsung is ahead. Time must show whether this will continue to be the case in the future. According to news reports, three Chinese manufacturers are planning to attack with their variants. In the third quarter of 2021, Xiaomi and Oppo and Vivo could launch their folding phones.
What the competition has in store is no longer a big secret, at least with Xiaomi. The Mi Mix Fold was announced in March 2021 and put on sale in China for around KES 170,697.
The second version of the foldable smartphone is not supposed to be quite expensive, although this is certainly not a bargain. It remains unclear whether Xiaomi’s Mi Mix Fold 2 will also be available in Europe. Xiaomi’s already dazzling sales figures could be made even better by a foldable smartphone. Especially in the higher-priced segment, there is still room for the Chinese manufacturer to get up.

Oppo and Vivo: Plans still unclear
Oppo and Vivo, who are both parts of the same parent company BBK Electronics, have not yet looked into the cards regarding foldable mobile phones. With the Oppo X, however, an interesting concept has already been presented, in which the display can be rolled out. According to DigiTimes, such a phone or similar could be released as early as the third quarter of 2021.
