Huawei has announced that the Petal Maps application will be improved for customers in Africa. The new app contains several enhancements and additional features, including dark mode navigation, third-party hotel booking, and destination reviews.
All of the new features are intended to make journey planning more convenient and fun. This is in addition to existing distinguishing features like heads-up display and real-time road condition updates.
Petal Maps has been upgraded to include add-ons from other global partners to make it easier for users to navigate and discover the world. Features such as ‘advanced navigation’ and user-generated ‘co-created maps’ have been added to the functionality.
- Petal Maps has transformed navigation with features like as Air Gestures and HUD (heads-up display) mode, and the updated version now includes navigation display over other apps. By showing in a floating window, this keeps the user’s ongoing navigation accessible even when switching apps.
- Co-created Maps — The enhanced version of Petal Maps now includes a location-specific comments function, which allows users to submit comments on specific locations using text, photos, and ratings. Other users can then read these reviews, creating a user-generated content layer on top of the map.
- Petal Maps also has the popular ‘saved places’ feature, which allows users to save favorite places with a single click, easily arrange their saved places, and use them as travel destinations for their next travels. For a more personalized experience, users can give their saved destinations and groups specific names.
Petal Maps can be manually updated or programmed to update automatically based on the user’s preferences. Petal maps can be downloaded through the Huawei AppGallery and the Google Play Store.
