UAP Old Mutual Group has launched an enhanced insurance solution to provide medical insurance coverage for people aged 65 to 80. Once a person is on-boarded, they are covered for life and do not have to worry about their coverage expiring due to age.
The improved solution, known as AfyaImara Seniors Cover, also includes COVID-19 treatment for moderate and critical cases.
Japheth Ogalloh, GM Health Insurance, UAP Old Mutual General Insurance, stated at the launch of AfyaImara Seniors Cover that the solution will cover a wide range of services. These include inpatient hospitalization, outpatient treatment, optical, and dental services with increased limits.
“No one is too old to benefit from good medical coverage. Afyaimara Seniors guarantees a quality, healthy life with financial freedom,” Japheth added.
AfyaImara Seniors Cover includes COVID–19 coverage, higher limits for chronic and pre-existing conditions, and annual wellness check-ups, among other benefits. Furthermore, for conditions not covered locally, accredited overseas partners are available for referral.
Inpatient limits range from Ksh. 500,000 to Ksh. 10,000,000. Outpatient cover is optional and ranges from Ksh. 50,000 to Ksh. 200,000 for routine outpatient services, consultations, diagnostics, drugs, and dressings.
“Because we are aware of the difficult circumstances we are currently in, we have made this cover affordable while also ensuring that there will be no excess for inpatient cover and that our customers can pay their premiums for inpatient cover in instalments. It also includes medical check-ups as part of the outpatient coverage,” Japheth explained.
In addition to the pre-existing and chronic condition coverage provided by UAP Old Mutual, the solution includes dental and optical benefits, hospitalization expenses, and home nursing services subject to pre-authorization. It also covers diagnostic and physiotherapy fees, as well as prescribed medications, dressings, and surgical appliances.
“One can only be eligible for outpatient coverage if they have inpatient coverage; however, it is possible to have only inpatient coverage. “NHIF shall apply where the principal already has an NHIF Cover,” Japheth concluded.
