Today, Netflix, the world’s leading streaming entertainment service, globally introduced a free plan that will now allow entertainment fans to enjoy almost all of Netflix’s content on android mobile phones, without paying a subscription fee.

The rollout of the free plan kicks off today and will only be available for people within Kenya and will allow people in Kenya to access most of Netflix’s shows and films ads-free with personalised recommendations and parental controls.

The firm aims to use the free plan to attract these users, make them fall in love with Netflix so much that over time they upgrade to a full, paid subscription.

“At Netflix, we want everyone to be able to enjoy the suspense of Blood & Water, the romance of Bridgerton, and the adventure of Army of the Dead. Now we’re giving audiences in Kenya the chance to experience these stories for themselves — completely free of charge, “ says Cathy Conk, Netflix’s Director of Product Innovation.

She adds, “If you’ve never watched Netflix before — this is a great way to experience our service. We hope it’s a great match and that many of the people who try our free plan love Netflix so much that over time they upgrade to a full, paid subscription so you can enjoy our full catalog on your TV or laptop as well.”

They will then enjoy the personalised recommendations, parental controls, and create multiple profiles (including Kids). To enjoy our full catalogue on multiple devices, members will need to upgrade to one of our paid plans.

Some of the popular shows that will be on offer will include the highly-anticipated upcoming new season of Blood & Water which premieres globally on 24 September, the newly-released Nigeria series, King of Boys: Return of the King and the new season of the much-loved Money Heist, amongst others.
