Kenyan agri-tech startups invited to apply for the O-Farms accelerator Program.

Kenyan agri-tech startups are invited to apply for the O-Farms accelerator program, which focuses on circular agribusiness and aims to make circularity a mainstream approach for improved rural livelihoods and sustainability.

O-Farms is an African SME accelerator dedicated only to circular agribusiness, with the goal of making circularity a mainstream approach for improved rural livelihoods and long-term sustainability. It’s an IKEA Foundation-funded project aimed at scaling up circular agriculture technologies in East Africa.

O-Farms, led by Bopinc and Village Capital, is working in Ethiopia and Kenya to accelerate the next generation of innovative circular agribusinesses. Agri-circularity promotes a more sustainable food system by developing innovative business models that reduce agricultural losses, resulting in new economic opportunities and jobs for the community. Kenya is able to feed its rapidly rising population without depleting natural resources in this way. O-Farms will accomplish so by creating an innovation support infrastructure that will allow circular agriculture to flourish and thrive.

In Kenya, E4Impact Accelerator will implement the O-Farm Accelerator Program, which will support SMEs in the agribusiness circular economy to refine their innovations, strengthen their business models, access financing, and build a founding community advocating for better adoption of a circular economy and supportive policies and legislation.

Two companies will be chosen by their peers at the end of the program to receive seed grants of up to EUR50,000 (US$58,000).
