Motorola has been one of the market’s forerunners, even though its name isn’t one of the first to spring to mind when discussing smartwatches. The American company has since left the world of smartwatches, although it does not appear to have gone it for good. Motorola wants to unveil a new smartwatch before the end of the year, according to new internal papers.
Motorola is keen to return to the connected watch market after inconclusive studies a few years ago. Internal docs obtained by 9to5Google indicate the existence of a Moto Watch 100, with photographs to back it up. As a result, the Moto Watch 100 would have an aluminium body and a circular screen on the right side with two buttons. It will also come with a silicone wristband and a charging connection for its 355mAh battery.
It would also include a back-mounted heart rate sensor and be Bluetooth 5.2 compliant for wireless connectivity. There’s no word on what operating system it’ll operate on, but as 9to5Google points out, it’ll probably be Wear OS.
This new smartwatch from the Lenovo-owned company will be available before the end of the year “at an entry-level pricing” with a “luxury feel.” Motorola is also working on two more smartwatches, the Moto Watch 200 and the Moto Watch 100s, all set to ship in the first quarter of 2022.
