SafeSearch is a service provided by Google that prevents explicit content from appearing in search results on both desktop and mobile platforms. Unfortunately, SafeSearch is mandated by law in some areas, and some Internet Service Providers (ISPs) use settings that force SafeSearch to lock; in these cases, you cannot disable Google SafeSearch from your end, though you can try another browser.
Turn off SafeSearch on Google Search for Desktop.
- To disable Google Search’s SafeSearch filter on your Windows, Mac, Linux, or Chromebook computer, open a web browser and navigate to Google Search.
- Click “Settings” in the bottom-right corner of the Google site.
- Select “Search Settings” from the “Settings” menu.
- You will be taken to a page called “Search Settings.” Toggle off the “Turn On SafeSearch” option in the “SafeSearch Filters” section.
- Scroll down the page and click “Save” at the bottom to save your changes.
- The prompt “Your Preferences Have Been Saved” will appear. “OK” will be displayed.
Turn off SafeSearch in Google Mobile Search.
- To disable SafeSearch on your iPhone, iPad, or Android phone, open a web browser and navigate to the Google site.
- Tap “Settings” at the bottom of the Google site.
- Tap “Search Settings” in the menu that appears.
- Enable the “Show Explicit Results” option on the “Search Settings” page, in the “SafeSearch Filters” section.
- Scroll down the page and then tap “Save” at the bottom.
- You will see a prompt that says “Your Preferences Have Been Saved.” In this prompt, press “OK.”
Google’s SafeSearch is now disabled.
