The deadline for re-registering SIM cards has been extended to October 15th by the Communication Authority.

This is 6 months away, which means you have plenty of time to update your information with the service provider you’re utilizing.

The only network provider that was compliant prior to the last-minute rush to have the details updated was JTL, whose subscribers did not have to change any details. This is because when a new subscriber receives their SIM card for the first time, the network provider gathers all of the relevant information.

Both Airtel and Telkom made it easy for consumers to finish the re-registration process online in the last weeks of the process. This simplified the process for subscribers who were short on time or simply preferred the ease of completing the process online.

Safaricom, the largest network provider by user base, appeared unconcerned and insisted that clients finish the process in person at one of its agents. This remained the case until today when the deadline for subscribers to complete the re-registration was set to expire. The Communication Authority, on the other hand, may have been influenced by the upheaval generated by the largest telecom and chose to extend the deadline to October.

For those who have not yet completed the re-registration process, you can now do it online for all network providers by following the steps below.
